This painting was done shortly after my semester in Italy. All of the abstract lines in this piece are actually very quick sketches that follow my very first day in Milan. It was my very first time leaving the US, and I couldn't believe all of the history that surrounded me. I touched a stone on the wall of a castle outside the city where Leonardo Da Vinci used to work, and it hit me how much history that one stone had been exposed to....and how open it was to the public! So much history, yet it wasn't in a museum and it wasn't off limits for people to hang around. This is a Christian Ives original oil painting.
